Slackware is a free and open source Linux distribution. It was one of the earliest operating systems to be built on top of the Linux kernel and is the oldest currently being maintained. Slackware was created by Patrick Volkerding of Slackware Linux, Inc. in 1993.
The current stable version is 14.1, released on 7 November 2013.
Slackware aims for design stability and simplicity, and to be the most "Unix-like" Linux distribution, making as few modifications as possible to software packages from upstream and using plain text files and a small set of shell scripts for configuration and administration.

--This Virtual Machine was created with VMware 10.X
--The Virtual machine has NO root password set, you can create one as soon as you log in by typing "passwd root" (the default login name is root)
--The Virtual Machine does NOT have VMware tools or Virtualbox tools installed, you will have to do that yourself. (note: you may have to create the directory /etc/pam.d in order to do this. This id done by typing "mkdir -p /etc/pam.d" ...mounting the VMware tools iso or the Virtualbox iso and installing according to your software specifications)
